Defoamers are widely used in industrial production, especially in water treatment, coatings, food and papermaking. As the name suggests, the role of defoamer is to eliminate the foam that has formed and inhibit the formation of foam by reducing the surface tension of the water body and the solution. Because the generation of a large amount of foam not only affects the progress of industrial production, but also causes quality problems in products, the demand for defoamers is also increasing.
There are many types of defoamers according to different standards. For example, there are water treatment defoamers, food defoamers, paint defoamers, cleaning defoamers, papermaking defoamers and so on. According to different chemical compositions, it can be divided into mineral oil defoamer, silicone defoamer, polyether defoamer, non-silicone defoamer, etc. These defoamers can be adapted to the occasion that needs to be defoamed, so some people may be curious, what are the components of such a powerful defoamer? Let me introduce you!

1. Main antifoam agent. Most of them are active ingredients such as polyether, higher alcohols, mineral oils, etc., and their main role is to reduce surface tension, rapid defoaming, and long-term foam inhibition;
2. Emulsifiers. The use of emulsifier makes the active ingredient better dissolved in the water body, which is convenient for the rapid dispersion of the defoamer;
3. Carriers. It helps the active substance to be fused with the foaming system, so that the water solubility and dispersion performance of the defoamer are more superior;
4. Emulsifying aids. In order to improve the emulsification effect of the defoamer, a certain proportion of organic esters and ethyl oxidation products will be added to make the defoamer more contact with the water;
5. Stabilizers. In order to prevent bacterial contamination of the defoamer during storage, oleic acid and hexylene glycol are added to improve the stability of the defoamer.
